Members of the Lions Club of Phuket Andaman
Sea traveled to Penang, Malaysia to visit
their sister-club of Georgetown to take part
of the official opening of their gazebo. In
the evening our Lion President Narin handed
over a check of 200 US $ to Lion President
I.T.Oui from the sister-club of Georgetown
to support their Gazebo project.

The Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea got
aware of the tragedy of Khun Hupsun Sae Eung,
a 51 year man from Phuket, whose leg had to
be amputated due to a venal sickness. We
decided to help this unfortunate man by
getting him a leg-protease to improve his
ability to move and walk without a crutch.

The Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea is
sponsoring the 20 year old Khun Thidarath
Rungruang since 7 years already. She visits
the Rajabat Institute in Phuket Town and
unfortunately her parents can not afford a
higher education. To ensure a good
education, the Lions Club of Phuket Andaman
Sea will continue this scholarship project,
until she will graduate.

The Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea became
aware of the financial shortage of the
Montessori Learning Center, in Rawai, to
finish their gymnasium. The decision was
made to help this project because the gym
will also be used by the whole Rawai society
as a meeting and exhibition area. Lion
President David Van Zandt handing over e
cheque of 15.000 THB.

The Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea donated
prizes for a total of 7106 THB for the “
Knowledge of Encyclopedia” competition in
Sapan Hin on the 9th of August 2003. This
was a joint activity together with the Lions
Club of Phuket and the Lions Club of Phuket
Pearl.

The Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea made a
donation of food and bedding to the Patong
Child Care center. The donation was
officially received by Mrs Roelien Muller,
Director of the “Asia Center Foundation”.
The Lions Club members also donated a Guitar
to help teach the children songs from around
the world.

This club activity was held on Tuesday 30th
September. It was a donation of food and
bedding to a child care center at Phuket
prison. This group is one of the projects of
'Childwatch' in Phuket. The kids living here
are children from inmates locked up at the
Phuket prison.

A joint activity with the Lions Clubs of
Phuket and the Lions Club of Phuket Pearl
was held on 27th September at the Phuket
handicapped center. This activity was a
donation of 56,308 baht which was the
proceeds from the joint celebration on 20th
Sept. The recipient of the donation was the
Autistic Children’s Foundation.

A club activity was held on Thursday 2nd Oct
2003 - Donation of food and clothing to the
14 year old Pomtawan Pongkampan who at
sometime in the past was a victim of an
tragic accident which was not operated at
the time of the accident. He will remain
unable to walk correctly for the rest of his
life.

The second activity this month and by far
most successful fundraiser of this year was
held in the Surakul Stadium in Phuket Town
at the 25th. and 26th. of October 2003 by
the Lions Club of Phuket Andaman Sea in form
of a football tournament. 10 expat teams
from all over Asia were invited to compete
in this fundraising event.

A donation of Bedlinen, towels & fans to the
Phuket handicapped. In preparation for the
“Phuket Handicapped Day” on the 3.12.03.
Khun Jitrada was the officer, and Khun Sawai
- president for the handicapped people.

and accompanied by Lion Helmut Goergen &
Lion Olinto Barelli.
